My biggest problem with most social movements, are not the core, but the insane fringes that are “screaming” like a lunatic, and because their loud and obnoxious get enough coverage to seem representative.

So it’s with some trepidation that I want to tear this fucking article apart.

Obviously I’m against denigrating white men. So there’s some agreement. But how you convey your message matters. And if you seem like such an asshole that I have to rethink my alignment, maybe you’re not helping.
Heres the disagreement (basically the entire article).
I am writing to express my concern with your treatment of white men in the Canadian military.
I have read multiple articles that indicate you treat white men with contempt, denigrate them and are trying to get rid of smart white men and replace them with women.
Examples are women only jobs, saying white men are “historically advantaged” which is saying they are privileged and should be punished, lower standards for women, saying white men not wanted, and the article below that says again, get rid of smart, decent hard working white men that have served Honourably and replace them with women.
This is ridiculous.
This is ridiculous. First white men don’t seem particularly aggrieved in the CAF, that’s my experience at least. Now there absolutely is a drive to get more of every conceivable minority group represented throughout the forces, which includes senior leadership.
The article that so inflamed this individual is advocating for two main things. One is if you have any sexual misconduct history that should be disclosed in the evaluation for a GOFO (General Officer Flag Officer) promotion. The other is there should be more women in leadership.
I’m going to assume you didn’t read the link, but there’s no passage on trying to eliminate white men or “SMART (not dumb) WHITE MEN” from the CAF. I would like to mention here that all the bolding is his.
You are affecting careers and lives of decent, Honourable military white men (and their wives and children). Smarten up. You do not treat people like this. Any Manager that does this should be fired. You treat all people with dignity and respect.
With white men, do you not understand that the SMART (not dumb) WHITE MAN’S MILITARY IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD? They win wars, keep us safe from being conquered, bombed, etc. A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. Too complicated for people like you and the women trying to steal jobs from white men.
White men have been and are the vast majority in the military. This is normal. You do not seem to understand that. Math too hard for you?
To be at the senior level people also have to have years of experience. More white men have the experience.
Many white men see the military as service to the country and want to serve Honourably. I do not think you and the women understand this mentality.

First it’s entirely the U.S that keeps us from being conquered and bombed.
Canada is good at supporting roles. That’s our niche. We don’t have the equipment to defend the very large landmass that makes up Canada. If we weren’t allies with the U.S. and geographical neighbours we land about here in military capability.
Anyway I’m not going to go through the whole thing. He’s pointing to a real feeling, but in terms of substance, eh.
I’m to lazy to actually check (in part because our government sites aren’t even up to date) but there something like 14 female GOFOs out of 142 GOFO positions.
Here’s a story from the pit. As part of some GBA+ initiative group it was noticed that some female members had issues moving the sliding door. It was recommended that the door be constructed of lighter material. That was shut down. Nope, structural integrity, weight balance, safety, combat effectiveness.
In fact the military has made it more physically demanding on females to join since around 2012, with the introduction of the Force test.
Previously females and those of older age groups had a lower standard in terms of grip strength, endurance running, sit-ups, and grip strength, under what was then known as the “Express Test”. It was redesigned and now everybody has to pass the same minimum.

Also, you obviously are not aware of, or do not understand Canadian Human Rights Act (CHRA) Section 40.1. This says:
(2) No complaint may be dealt with by the Commission pursuant to section 40 where
(a) the complaint is made against an employer alleging that the employer has engaged in a discriminatory practice set out in section 7 or paragraph 10(a); and
(b) the complaint is based solely on statistical information that purports to show that members of one or more designated groups are underrepresented in the employer’s workforce.
This means numbers do not matter and are NOT proof of discrimination. No complaint means not proof of discrimination. This also means you cannot take any action based on underrepresented. Simple, what, women hockey players in NHL, police, fire, military, etc.? You are using numbers “underrepresented” to discriminate against white men and steal jobs.
How do you not know this? People that have simple common sense and basic thinking skills know this.
To explain further, although many cannot understand this, saying over-representation of white men is saying white men are overrepresented, which is also saying non-white men are underrepresented, which is saying one or more designated groups are underrepresented, which again is not a valid complaint and not a valid basis for actions (Section 40.1).
Therefore, your actions are INVALID.

I would think he’s trolling, but the basic background I did on him he seems like an older gentleman.
Again he’s not wrong. If you want a society that’s significantly representative in all jobs I guess tell women to not be veterinarians and teachers, and get them into offshore drilling.
This amounts to an initiative to increase female leadership in the CAF, which is admirable, if misguided. The point here is to move the margin a few percentiles, or if it’s more ambitious then it’s going to fail.
If you want more female GOFOs you have to increase the number of female officer recruits. Then convince them to deploy a bunch and work long hours. Then convince them this is more attractive than their other options. It’s a pipeline problem, that’s never going to be representative of the population unless there’s some dystopian initiative that forces more women into the military.
